So after SF I called My friend Mike Ardelean who lives in LA, (well Venice Beach to be more precise) to see if I could swing by and hang for a night. so we ended up meeting up and headed straight to the taco truck, and then to Rite aid to get the Tecates for cheap! That seems to be my thing I do every time I’m here! Next day Mike had to work so I took an early morning dip at Santa Monica and cruised around solo for a bit and shot a few photos and did a little shopping. Later in the day my friend Carson from Bellingham was actually in town so we met up at the Venice ramp and did some shredding then cruised around a bit more and ate some tacos! haha nice little stopover in LA im thinking maybe Lake Havasu tomorrow? not sure yet, perhaps Pheonix? Ill have to see, My long days on the road are about to begin here soon though! Its been a rad trip so far though!!! im so stoked! and thanks everyone on the photo feedback, much appreciated! and huge thanks to Mike for letting me crash, thanks again!!
I drove down highway 1 along the coast in California from Eureka to SF, camped twice, and made my way slowly down the coast. The craziest roads ever. Having a Subaru with a stick shift full of everything you own the in it is not ideal for those roads, especially when the locals drive nuts, I had to let semi’s pass me, thats how slow I drove. I ended up taking a rest stop in Petaluma, and happened to pull into a skatepark I’ve seen on the internet a few times of my friend Wolfman, so I got ahold of him - and he was actually on his way to the park I was at so we met up and rode the park for a few hours filmed a few things and headed to SF to meet up with Marco. We shredded and chilled all day then Marco had free tickets for a Mos Def show so we checked that out and got wasted, (had a rough night) haha and woke up the nxt day and eased into it with a huge breakfast and checking out a concert and riding our bikes around these really dope parks, best day yet in SF!
I cant write much cause my battery is about to run out, so ill make it brief! Took off from Bellingham on the 20th I believe.., and began my journey east, well south first, so I can take the warm way : ) I stopped by and saw my brother in Seattle real quick and cruized down to portland right after that and hung out with my good friend Rich Hirsch at his place in Downtown Portland! (thanks Rich) I am writing this post from a small town right on the ocean in California called Fort Bragg. which is about 150 miles north of San Francisco on Highway 1. The trip so far has been incredible, I have camped every night. The first place I camped was Florence OR, right in the sand dunes, I haven’t been there in so long and it was great to go back there again and soak it up, it’s such a crazy place. First night camping I wanted to play it safe because I wanted to make sure everything was intact so I set up right before it got dark cooked some food did a little research for the trip and went to bed, it rained that night.. Next day I headed out in the morning and headed toward the Redwoods, a destination I really wanted to check out and camp in! I cant even put to words how incredible that place is, its magical, Spielberg didn’t film E.T. there for nothing! I was looking for a place to camp and Prairie Creek where I pulled in was charging $35 a night, so I asked if there was anything cheaper around, and the attendant pointed me like 7 miles away to another site for $10.00 which was super sketchy! it looked like there was an old broken down trailer at the campsite and so much crap all over the tables, it didnt look like anyone camped there for like 10 years! There was a river there though, and I hadn’t showered yet, so I decided to take one in the river near that site, got dried off and looked for another site, which I found about 45min away, set up camp cooked some food and went to sleep. today has been mostly in the car and I am taking the scenic route on the 101 and now the 1 down to SF. All in all everything has been awesome! I cant wait to see what else I get to see, Im only in CA and its been incredible! still have the rest of the country to go!
Well as some of you may, or may not know I am about to hit the road here pretty quickly for NYC. I want to go on the California coast along the 1 and do some camping and dip all the way down to the 40 and cut across AZ, NM, and so on, until about Tennessee, then cut back up north for a warmer route east. I don’t know how it will be on the road to update the blog as I go, but I do want to do a detailed documentation along the way for sure. I have stocked up on film, cameras, and camp gear, so hopefully I get to see some rad things to document! I have definitely been sleeping on this blog lately but I wanted to start to get the gears running again, before I head out. Here are some random photographs I have taken recently in Bellingham I wanted to put up, a place I have lived for the past 4 or so years. I do really love Bellingham, and the simplicity of life here, the local community, and all the natural beauty it has to offer, but for the past year or so I felt I need to step it up in the years to come and try new things, so thats why I’m going to give NYC a shot! the biggest possible change of lifestyle I can endure, I know. I had one of the best summers I have ever had this year up here, got to hang out with all of my good friends, and basically do anything I wanted to do everyday. definitely a summer to remember! I wanted to postpone my trip until the weather started to turn, (which its now doing) and just enjoy the summer out here, cause I have to say nothing is better than a summer in the northwest! here are a few photos I’ve shot recently
